Day 1: Arrival in Paro
Arrive in Paro, where you will be greeted by your Imperial Lotus Tours guide and transferred to your hotel. After lunch, visit the Ta Dzong, an ancient watchtower that now houses the National Museum of Bhutan. Then visit the Paro Rinpung Dzong, a fortress built in 1646. Overnight in Paro.
Day 2: Paro
After breakfast, hike to Taktshang Monastery (also known as Tiger’s Nest), a sacred site perched on a cliffside 900 meters above the Paro valley. Return to Paro for lunch, and in the afternoon, visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest temples in Bhutan, and the ruins of Drukgyel Dzong. Overnight in Paro.
Day 3: Paro – Thimphu
After breakfast, drive to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. On the way, stop at the Tamchog Lhakhang iron bridge and the Tachog Lhakhang temple. In Thimphu, visit the National Memorial Chorten and the Buddha Dordenma statue, one of the largest Buddha statues in the world. Overnight in Thimphu.
Day 4: Thimphu
In the morning, visit the National Library, the Institute for Zorig Chusum (the School of Traditional Arts and Crafts), and the Folk Heritage Museum. After lunch, visit the Tashichho Dzong, a fortress that houses the offices of the King and other government officials. In the evening, attend a cultural show or participate in a cooking class. Overnight in Thimphu.
Day 5: Thimphu – Punakha
After breakfast, drive to Punakha, the old capital of Bhutan. On the way, stop at Dochula Pass and enjoy the stunning views of the Himalayan mountains. Visit Punakha Dzong, a fortress built in the 17th century that is still used as a government office. Overnight in Punakha.
Day 6: Punakha – Wangdue Phodrang – Paro
After breakfast, visit Chimi Lhakhang, a temple dedicated to the Divine Madman. Then drive to Wangdue Phodrang and visit the local market. In the afternoon, return to Paro and explore the town at your leisure. Overnight in Paro.
