Day 1: Arrive in Paro and transfer to Thimphu
Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be welcomed by your Imperial Lotus Tours guide and transferred to your hotel in Thimphu. After checking in, you can take some time to rest and explore the city on your own.
Day 2: Thimphu Tshechu – Day 1
Today, you will attend the first day of the Thimphu Tshechu festival. This is one of the largest festivals in Bhutan and features traditional mask dances, music, and other cultural performances. You will have the opportunity to witness the colorful and vibrant displays of Bhutanese culture.
Day 3: Thimphu Tshechu – Day 2
Today, you will attend the second day of the Thimphu Tshechu festival. You will witness more traditional dances and ceremonies, and learn about the significance of the festival in Bhutanese culture.
Day 4: Thimphu city tour
Today, you will explore the capital city of Thimphu. You will visit the National Memorial Chorten, a stupa built in honor of Bhutan’s third king, Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. You will also visit the Buddha Dordenma statue, a massive bronze statue of Buddha Shakyamuni. After lunch, you will visit the National Folk Heritage Museum and the School of Traditional Arts.
Day 5: Hike to Tango Monastery
Today, you will take a short hike to the Tango Monastery, which is located on a hilltop outside of Thimphu. The monastery was founded in the 12th century and is known for its stunning architecture and beautiful wall paintings. You will have the opportunity to learn about the history and significance of the monastery from your guide.
Day 6: Thimphu Tshechu – Day 3
Today, you will attend the third and final day of the Thimphu Tshechu festival. You will witness the famous Guru Tshengye dance, which depicts the eight manifestations of Guru Rinpoche, the patron saint of Bhutan.
Day 7: Departure
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Paro International Airport for your flight home. You will depart with unforgettable memories of Bhutan and the Thimphu Tshechu festival.
